Wedding Dress
My wedding dress, the style of which is based on the style of embroidered Aghani dresses that were popular in the 1970s in western countries, which I sewed and embroidered to my own design.
The main pattern on front bodice of wedding dress represents the sun and is embroidered in chain stitch with cotton and metallic thread. I used reflective foil instead of glass in the inner dots and the large inner circle which is overlaid with a kind of netting stitch. This main design is bordered with an embroidered braid edging.
A close-up of the outlining braid on the front bodice. The outer lines are chain stitch thread, in metallic thread and embroidery thread. The inner triangles are long stitch. I added little star shapes to cover the rest of the bodice panels, including the back of the bodice.

The paisley pattern, also known as the boteh or buta, is characterized by curved, feather-shaped figures, often resembling teardrops or flames, with a curled upper end. It has ancient Persian and Indian origins and has been a popular motif in fashion for centuries.”

The sleeves have embroidered braiding around the hems with star shapes graduating upwards.

Baby Jacket
I sewed and embroidered this baby jacket before my third child was born. It’s was more of a creative endeavour than a practical item and he rarely, if ever, wore it! The jacket is made with satin material and trimmed with moss green coloured binding.
I found the simple and effective design in a magazine.

Clown mobile
Four clowns made for a mobile made to hang above the cot of my first child. Design from a magazine.
